Editorial Policy

Last updated: June 2026

At Teermo, we hold ourselves to clear editorial standards. This page explains how we research, write, fact-check, and update our content — so you know exactly what you’re reading and why you can trust it.

Our Mission

Teermo exists to give everyday Americans practical, honest personal finance guidance that reflects the actual cost of living in 2026 — not decade-old advice built on outdated assumptions. Every article we publish is written with one question in mind: does this actually help someone with a real budget, right now?

Who Writes Our Content

All content on Teermo is written or reviewed by Roshan Yadav, the site’s founder and lead writer. Roshan has spent years researching budgeting systems, rental markets, and frugal-living strategies specifically for U.S. renters and workers earning moderate incomes. He writes from direct research experience — testing budgeting apps, tracking regional rent data, and analyzing government datasets — not from recycled generic advice.

When external contributors are added in the future, they will be clearly credited and must meet the same research and accuracy standards described on this page.

How We Research

Our research process for each article includes:

  • Primary sources first. We cite government data (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Census Bureau, Federal Reserve, CFPB) wherever possible for statistics and economic figures.
  • Published studies and surveys. We reference peer-reviewed research and well-documented surveys from recognized institutions (Pew Research, Federal Reserve Bank reports, academic journals).
  • Established finance publications. Data from NerdWallet, Bankrate, and similar platforms is used only when sourced back to their original methodology.
  • Real-world testing. Budgeting apps, cash stuffing systems, and savings tools referenced on this site have been personally evaluated by our team.

Fact-Checking Standards

Before any article is published:

  • All statistics are traced to a named, verifiable source.
  • Dollar figures, percentages, and dates are cross-checked against primary data.
  • Recommendations are assessed for real-world applicability — we do not recommend products or strategies we would not personally use.
  • Articles containing specific financial figures include a citation section or inline references.

Update Policy

Personal finance is time-sensitive. Interest rates change. Rent data shifts. Apps update their fee structures. We are committed to reviewing and updating our most-read articles on a regular basis — at minimum annually, and sooner when significant changes occur. Every article displays a Last Updated date so you can judge how current the information is.

Corrections Policy

If you spot an error — a wrong statistic, an outdated figure, a broken link — please contact us. We take corrections seriously and will update or annotate affected articles within 48 hours of verification. We do not quietly delete errors; we note what was corrected and when.

Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure

Teermo may earn a commission from affiliate links to products and services we recommend. This never influences our editorial opinions — we only link to products we have evaluated and believe are genuinely useful. All sponsored content, if any, will be clearly labeled. For more information, see our Disclaimer page.

Independence

Teermo has no advertisers or sponsors with editorial influence over our content. Brands cannot pay to be featured, reviewed positively, or excluded from criticism. Our revenue from display advertising and affiliates is structurally separate from our editorial process.
